Service Description

This after school series is targeted towards tweens and teens. In our September class, students will make a Range Backpack. This versatile backpack is perfect for school, travel, or as an all around town bag. In this class, students will learn how to: · Work with heavy duty fabrics · Sew with zippers · Install interior and exterior pockets · Construct a bag from a pattern · Keep track of the multiple pieces required for bag contruction · Use a rotary cutter. Photos of the backpack can be found in the class gallery. *** Materials are not included in the cost of the class. Students will need to purchase the below materials before the first day of class. If students choose to purchase supplies at SewBo, they receive 15% off of class purchases. If students purchase materials elsewhere, please adhere strictly to the materials list. Range Backpack Pattern ¾ yard (½ yard if 54”-wide fabric) Exterior Fabric ½ yard Contrast Bottom Fabric 1 ½ yards Lining Fabric (includes exterior closure, straps, and interior pocket) 3 ½ yards Fusible Woven Interfacing (Pellon SF101 - 20"-wide) 1 yard Medium-Weight Fusible Interfacing (Pellon 809 - 44” wide) ^ (2) 1 ½”-wide rectangle rings & (2) 1 ½”-wide strap sliders (1) 8” zipper* for front zippered pocket (2) 1"-wide d-rings *PLEASE NOTE: this pattern is written for fixed-length zippers (not zipper by the yard, if using zipper by the yard please add 1.5" to the length of each designated zipper) Recommended Fabrics: Waxed canvas (10-12 oz. weight), cotton canvas, cotton/linen canvas, denim for exterior and contrast bottom fabrics. Quilting cotton for lining fabric. Our staff at SewBo understands the materials list and can help with fabric choices. We have all the materials needed to construct the backpack. Class Cancellation Policy Class registration can be refunded within 7 days of the start date of any class. If cancellation is requested within 7 days of the start date, a transfer of registration may be made to a different class. No transfers can be made within 3 days of the start date of any class. We do not offer make-up sessions for missed classes.
