Service Description

Join Tessa Greene for a full day workshop where you will learn to make America's favorite pants—jeans! The workshop will run from 10 am to 5 pm and lunch will be provided along with an afternoon coffee run. In this workshop students will learn how to: · Make a muslin to ensure proper fit · Make adjustments for fit before cutting out fabric · Construct a fly · Attach pockets (back and front) · Work with a yoke · Attach a waistband · Use decorative topstitching · Work with decorative hardware · Hem This class includes a fit consultation with Tessa before the day of the workshop. Students will need to watch our "How to Make a Muslin" video (sent to students by October 1st), and schedule a time with Tessa to make any adjustments on fit prior to class. Students will then be given direction on any pattern adjustments needed. With that direction, students will cut out all of their pattern pieces before the workshop. The pattern is included in the cost of the class but all other materials are not included. Students will choose between 5 jean patterns: Morgan Jeans (mid-rise boyfriend), Ginger Jeans (mid-rise skinny), Daughter Judy Worship Jeans (higher mid-rise flare or straight leg), Helene Selvedge Jean (relaxed fit), and Thread Theory Fulford Jeans (Mens). If students choose the Helene or Worship jeans, we will print them in the large scale format for students to pick up. IMPORTANT: The Ginger Jeans are made with stretch denim. This means that the mulsin also needs to made from stretch denim. All other jeans can use a woven for the mulsin. In order to participate in this workshop, students must be confident sewers and should have experience making garments. Prerequisites include: sewing 101-301, Garment Sewing for Beginners Part One and Part Two, along with at least one additional garment sewing class. Students with equivalent experience are welcome to attend this workshop. If you are not there yet, don't fret! The workshop isn't until November so you still have time to take all the classes needed to take this workshop!
